The Clinical Laboratory is a very important aspect of patient care. Physicians order tests to help them diagnose a patient's illness. Clinical laboratories vary in size as well as the type of testing that each perform.
In the clinical laboratory setting there are many different departments where a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) can work. Whether it be a hospital lab or a larger "core" lab the departments are very similar.
This Tour will show you two of the three different clinical laboratory sites of
Clinical Laboratory Partners: the
Hartford Hospital site and the
Core Lab site in Newington. (The third site is located at
MidState Medical Center in Meriden.)
The tour will take you through the different departments within the lab and describe the types of testing that are performed within each. It will give you a better understanding of how a clinical laboratory functions and its role in patient care.
