Medical Technology Program Curriculum
What Do You Learn?

The Medical Technology program in the School of Allied Health completes a four year program at the University of Connecticut leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.

The program prepares students to take a national certification examination sponsored by either the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or NCA (National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel).

After three years of study at the affiliated college or university, students enter one of the hospital's two twelve-month programs which begin in July and January. During the first half of the year in the student laboratory phase of the program, students learn basic theory and technical skills. Morning lectures cover topics that are coordinated with hands-on experience in afternoon lab sessions. In the second half of the year, students progress through their training in the clinical laboratories.
