Volunteer Requirements

Age:
Volunteers are required, by regulations, to be a minimum of 14 years of age. Some departments have other age requirements - for example, Patient Care units, the Child Care Center, and the Auxiliary Store require volunteers to be at least 16 years old.

 

Health Screening:
Measles: All persons under the age of 35 must provide documentation of measles vaccination.
Tuberculosis: All volunteer applicants must provide documentation of a two-step tuberculin skin test (PPD) performed within the last 12 months, or have one administered before commencing volunteer activity. If there is ever a positive reaction the volunteer must provide documentation of a negative chest x-ray as follow-up.

 

Time:
Volunteers must commit to the minimum required volunteer time:

    * Teens - 50 hours minimum, over 5 consecutive weeks.
    * Adults - 3 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months

 

Uniform:  
Volunteers will be provided with a uniform that they must wear while volunteering in accordance with the Dress Code policy.
