Cedar Mountain Commons is a senior living community that is owned and operated by Hartford Hospital/Jefferson House. It is comprised of 44 independent living apartments and 34 assisted living apartments and provides housekeeping, maintenance, scheduled transportation, dining and social/recreational activities for its residents.

Residents of the independent living neighborhood enjoy two meals daily, weekly housekeeping (including laundering of bed and bath linens), all utilities except for cable television and telephone, scheduled transportation (to doctor’s offices, banks, shopping, etc.), varied recreational activities and programs and 24 hour staff response to resident emergencies.
 
What services are included in the assisted living neighborhood?
Residents of the assisted living neighborhood are served 3 meals daily, weekly housekeeping (including laundering of bed and bath linens), all utilities except for cable television and telephone, scheduled transportation (to doctor’s offices, banks, shopping, etc.), varied recreational activities and programs and 24 hour staff response to resident emergencies. In addition, eight hours of assistance (to include bathing dressing, escort to/from meals and activities, medication management, etc.) are provided as part of the basic monthly rent. Additional services are available upon request.

Each day there are many activities from which to choose. You can enjoy a card game with neighbors, or exercise with friends in the Fitness Center or join the walking club. You can do art projects or go to shows. Or, perhaps you may want to just socialize in the Club Room, visit with friends or family in the Country Kitchen or Living Room, or read a book in the Library. You can join the Wii® bowling league. You can be as social or as private as you want. It’s all up to you.

How will life be different at Cedar Mountain Commons?
Everyday living will be easier. You won’t have to worry about home maintenance. You won’t have to do all your own food shopping and cooking. Absolutely, so long as they maintain a current driver’s license. Most residents that bring their cars to Cedar Mountain Commons do retire them shortly after move-in since scheduled transportation is provided.

What happens if I experience a medical emergency in my apartment?
All apartments, regardless of their location within Cedar Mountain Commons, are equipped with an emergency call system that is monitored by the resident care staff 24 hours per day. By pressing the button on your emergency call box, or by pulling the emergency cord in your bathroom, staff will respond to your request for help.

If I am a resident of the independent living neighborhood and need personal care/assisted living in the future, can I remain in my apartment?
Absolutely. If you are a resident of the independent living neighborhood and need personal care assistance in the future, you can “age in place” and remain in your apartment… the personal care will be provided there.

Yes. Residents of Cedar Mountain Commons are guaranteed priority access to Jefferson House.

Since Cedar Mountain Commons is owned and operated by Hartford Hospital/Jefferson House, is Hartford Hospital the only choice for residents?
Residents are free to choose whatever hospital/physician(s) they would like to care for/treat them. Many of the residents do, however, utilize the services of Hartford Hospital and its doctors and are comforted by it’s nearly 150 years of service as the premier health care provider in Connecticut.
