Hartford Hospital benefits from many community fund-raising events and enjoys working collaboratively with local businesses, organizations and individuals who want to raise money to support our services.
Upcoming Events:
- Chip in for a Cure: 2nd Annual Martini Night
The 2nd Annual Chip in for a Cure Martini Night event is scheduled for March 4, 2010 at Hot Tomatoes in Hartford, CT. The event will be held from 5:30-9:00 pm. Proceeds to benefit Hartford Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Breast Cancer Research Programs. (more)
- ERRACE
ERRACE will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center-Avon. The event will feature a 25, 50 or 100 mile bike ride as well as a 5K Run. Proceeds will benefit the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center-Avon.
- 5th Annual Pink Flamingos Event
The 5th Annual Pink Flamingos event will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010. The event will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Partnership for Breast Care and "Take the Time" Mobile Mammography at Hartford Hospital. (more)
On-Going Fund-Raisers:
- Dr. Caputo's Race for Cancer
 Andrew E. Caputo, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon with Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, successfully finished one of the biggest challenges of his life, the La Ruta de los Conquistadores. On Nov. 14, 2007, he participated in the La Ruta de los Conquistadores with some of the best “hard-core” mountain bike racers in the world. The ride was an intense, four-day 221-mile mountain bike race across Costa Rica. His "Race for Cancer" was to raise funds in honor of his wife Allyson who faced one of the biggest challenges in her life, her own battle with ovarian cancer. (more)

- Black & Red Gala
The 19th annual Black & Red was held at the Bushnell Theatre on January 16, 2010. Over 825 medical, business, and community leaders attended this black-tie affair, raising over $450,000 for Cardiac Surgery at Hartford Hospital. Click here to learn more.
- Paul's & Sandy's Too & Pumpkintown U.S.A.
Thank you to Paul's & Sandy's Too & Pumpkintown U.S.A. who raised $11,750 through Pumpkintown and Pumpkintown Prom events. Proceeds benefited Hartford Hospital's Partnership for Breast Care.
- Skip McDermott Memorial Golf Outing
The Annual Golf Outing in Memory of Skip McDermott took place on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Blue Fox Golf Course. The tournament was held in memory of Francis “Skip” McDermott, a 28 year transplant who worked tirelessly for this cause before his death in 2001. The funds raised benefited the Transplant Program for Research at Hartford Hospital, LifeChoice Donor Services, The National Kidney for Transplant Olympic Team, and a scholarship for a deserving high school student pursuing a medical related career.
- 4th Annual Pink Flamingos Event
 The 4th Annual Pink Flamingo Event was held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Pond House Café in West Hartford, CT. It was an evening of fine wines and festive food and included a silent auction. The funds raised benefited the Partnership for Breast Care and “Take the Time” Mobile Mammography at Hartford Hospital. For a list of sponsors please click here.
- 7th Annual Pip Golf Open
The 7th Annual Pip Golf Open was held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Farmington Woods Golf Club in Avon, Connecticut. Proceeds from this event benefited the The Henry Low Heart Center – Catheterization Lab and the Oncology Unit on Bliss 5.
- Riding for a Reason
Riding for a Reason event was held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center in Avon, CT. The event featured a 100, 50, 30 mile cycling tour as well as a 5/10K tour for those wanting to walk or run. Riding for a Reason also featured a wellness festival complete with physical therapists, nutritionists, and massage therapists as well as a raffle with a chance to win a car.
- 12th Annual Nite of Lite Laughter
Lite 100.5 WRCH and Hartford Hospital were proud to present Joan Rivers, live, for the 12th Annual Nite of Lite Laughter fundraising event on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at The Bushnell in Hartford. Proceeds benefited the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center.
- A Tribute to Life: A Skating Exhibition
A Skating Exhibition Celebrating the Lives of the People We Love was held August 15, 2009 at the Newington Arena. The event honored all people affected by cancer. Proceeds benefited the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center.
- 4th Annual Ride for the Star
This annual Poker Run took place August 16, 2009. The motorcycle ride began at TSI Harley Davidson in Ellington, CT. The event benefited Hartford Hospital’s Life Star Program.
- Tuscany Grill Fundraiser
Thank you to The Tuscany Grill in Middletown who donated 50% of their proceeds from their Lobster Menu during the weekend of of July 24, 25, 26 to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center. - Hartford Hospital Cardiology Fundraiser
On Saturday, June 20th an evening of music & laughter to benefit the Division of Cardiology at Hartford Hospital took place at the Arch Street Tavern, 85 Arch Street, Hartford, CT. The event featured comedians Angel Rentas, APRN and Jay Sutay, MD as well as the musical talents of the "2nd Shift Band".
- Nicholas' Cross-Country Cycle for Cancer
On June 27, 2009, Nicholas Caminiti, a 15 year old boy from Farmington, began riding his bicycle across the United States with a group called Apogee Adventures to raise funds for Hartford Hospital’s Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center – Avon, and Allyson Caputo, a young woman who is battling ovarian cancer.  L-R: Dr. Stuart Kesler, Dr. Andrew Salner, Pat Salner, Kathy Burns, Pam and Joe Vecchiarino | Brew for the Blue The Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Program at Hartford Hospital hosted its 1st annual “Brew for the Blue” on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at City Steam Brewery Café in Hartford. Nearly 200 hundred guests attended and enjoyed a festive beer tasting along with an evening of networking that raised over $13,000. The funds raised will help support the outreach education and screening programs that make up part of the Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Program. Last year, the Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Program provided almost 600 free prostate cancer screening exams to men in need and have reached hundreds of additional men with education and outreach materials. - Matthew Phillips 9th Annual Cut-A-Thon
The 9th Annual Cut-A-Thon was held on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Matthew Phillips Salon at 68 LaSalle Road in West Hartford. Haircuts & Manicures were offered at a reduced rate and all proceeds from the haircuts, raffle tickets, silent auction & cookbooks were donated to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Research. The event was a huge success! The event raised over $17,000 for Hartford Hospital’s Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center’s Breast Cancer Research Programs. Matthew Phillips Salon has raised over $100,000 over the past nine years. We are so grateful for their dedication and support of Hartford Hospital.
- Chip in for a Cure Martini Night
This fun evening, presented by Hot Tomato's and benefiting breast cancer research at Hartford Hospital and St. Francis Hospital, was held March 5, 2009.
- High Fashion With A Heart
Hartford Hospital's held its annual fashion show, sponsored by the Henry Low Heart Center, on March 7, 2009. At the show, women learned about heart disease while learning about the latest in fashion, makeup, shoes and style.
- The Masquerade Ball
The Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury held its second annual Masquerade Ball on Saturday, October 25, 2008, to benefit the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital. The fun filled evening included dancing, exciting raffle prizes, and delicious food.
- The First Annual Race For The Courageous
This 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk was held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center-Avon. It was a beautiful day and there was an amazing support from the community. The funds raised will benefit the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center-Avon.
- The 3rd Annual Run for Prostate Cancer 2008
This 5K Run/3K Walk was held on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Riverside Park, Hartford. The funds raised will benefit the Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Program at Hartford Hospital. For more information on the event please visit http://www.hartfordprostaterun.org./
- Chip in for A Cure – ING New England Golf Classic
 The LPGA'S Duramed FUTURES TOUR at Wintonbury Hills Golf Club in Bloomfield, CT took place on July 14th-19th. The event was a HUGE success. This event is one of 19 TOUR stops on the LPGA'S Duramed FUTURES TOUR. All proceeds from this event benefit local charities. Chip in for a Cure donates 100% of the funds raised to Hartford Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Breast Cancer research and education programs. - 18th Annual Raynbow Golf Classic
The 18th Annual Raynbow Golf Classic was held June 23rd, 2008, at Wampanoag Country Club, West Hartford to benefit Diabetes Research.
- Meriden Motorcycle Megaride
The Megaride took place on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT. The ride was in memory of Dan Hunter. The ride was an incredible success with over 400 participants coming out to honor Dan Hunter. The one-hour scenic ride benefited Hartford Hospital's Trauma Critical Care Unit.
- Cuts for a Cause
Hair Today in Glastonbury, CT hosted a special gathering April 27, 2008, to celebrate the life of a co-worker who lost her battle to cancer. The event was a true success and was a delightful gathering of friends and the community. The mood was festive with lots of wonderful raffle prizes, food and activities for the children.
