Health Tip: Taking NSAIDs

(HealthDay News) -- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are over-the-counter or prescription drugs designed to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons says NSAIDs may be used to treat or help prevent:

  • Bursitis or tendonitis.
  • Heart disease.
  • Arthritis.
  • A bone fracture.
  • Pain or inflammation resulting from orthopedic surgery.
