Health Tip: Prevent the Spread of Rotavirus in Children

Last Updated: 2010-Nov-12  ::  (HealthDay)

(HealthDay News) -- Rotavirus is a common infection among young children, especially those in the close confines of hospitals or child care centers.

The Nemours Foundation suggests how to help children avoid a rotavirus infection:

  • Encourage kids to keep hands and fingers out of their mouths.
  • Make sure children wash their hands frequently, particularly before they eat and after they use the restroom.
  • Have your children vaccinated against rotavirus.
  • Keep children who have diarrhea home from school or daycare until their symptoms end.
