(HealthDay News) -- Most babies are ready to leave the hospital
within two to five days of birth. For parents, that means a lot of
preparation.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says parents should follow
this checklist before bringing baby home:
- Properly install a rear-facing car seat that is federally
approved and the correct size for your little one.
- Be sure to follow the car seat maker's instructions carefully.
If possible, have the installed seat inspected by a certified
technician.
- Select a safe place for the infant to sleep, well in
advance.
- Purchase clothing and blankets, diapers, and formula -- if you
decide not to breast-feed.
