(HealthDay News) -- To stay safe and alert behind the wheel,
it's important to avoid distractions while you drive.
The U.S. Department of Transportation cites these examples:
- Being on your cell phone.
- Sipping on a drink or eating.
- Fixing your hair or touching up your makeup.
- Constantly talking to other people in the car.
- Reading (even maps), watching a movie or using the car's
navigation system.
- Fiddling with the CD or MP3 player, or trying to tune in a
radio station.
