Health Tip: Help Control Constipation During Pregnancy

(HealthDay News) -- Hormonal changes during pregnancy tend to slow digestion and relax bowel muscles, leaving many woman constipated.

The Womenshealth.gov website offers these suggestions to help curb constipation during pregnancy:

  • Drink eight to 10 glasses of water per day.
  • Avoid caffeine.
  • Choose plenty of fiber-rich foods, including fruits, veggies and whole grains.
  • Get regular, light exercise.
