(HealthDay News) -- Youngsters may get hurt if the wrong toys
end up in the wrong little hands.
The American Academy of Pediatrics offers these suggestions for
choosing safe toys:
- Make sure any toy is age-appropriate for the child.
- Always read the product instructions.
- Don't allow children under age 10 to use a toy that must be
plugged in.
- Make sure any toy given to children under age 3 doesn't have
small parts that could present choking hazards.
- Toys for young children should not have any strings, ribbons,
balloons, button batteries or magnets.
- Store all toys in a toy chest or cabinet, keeping younger
children away from older children's toys.
