Health Tip: Help Prevent Trampoline Injuries

Last Updated: 2012-Nov-13  ::  (HealthDay)

(HealthDay News) -- While a trampoline offers fun and much-needed exercise, using the equipment improperly can lead to injury.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says it doesn't recommend buying a trampoline for the home, suggesting the equipment be used only in a supervised sports-training program.

The academy offers these suggestions for trampoline use:

  • Make sure children know how to land properly and jump carefully.
  • Do not allow stunts on a trampoline.
  • If more than one person is using the equipment at the same time, be careful to avoid striking the other person.
  • Avoid jumping too close to the springs or frame.
