(HealthDay News) -- Even if it seems to take hours to get baby
to sleep, there are times when you actually need to wake your
infant.
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests how to gently rouse
a sleeping baby:
- Speak or sing softly, pick up baby, or even lightly tickle the
infant.
- Move baby's arms and legs.
- Start undressing your baby. The additional stimulation or cold
air often wakes newborns.
- Change baby's diaper.
- Give baby a bath, but only if it's essential to wake baby and
other methods have failed.
