Compulsive Hoarding
Department:   Anxiety Center

Compulsive hoarding is a common and potentially disabling problem, characterized by the accumulation of excessive clutter, to the point that parts of one's home can no longer be used for their intended purpose. Dr. David F. Tolin, founder and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Center at The Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital, recognized expert in compulsive hoarding and a National Institutes of Health sponsored researcher on this topic, will discuss the phenomenon of compulsive hoarding and provide a framework for understanding this challenging problem. He will also discuss new approaches to the treatment of hoarding and describe the compulsive hoarding program at the Institute of Living's Anxiety Disorders Center.
