The vision of Young Adult Services (YAS) is to provide a full continuum of services to patients 17-26 who present with significant mental health problems, who would benefit from treatment which is developmentally-based and focused on getting the young person back to their lives.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Details
The YAS IOP meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1-4 PM. Clients participate in group, individual and family treatment to help reduce symptoms, and address problems. The focus is to try to help the young person return to pursuing their life goals, and get the treatment they need to achieve this.
Groups may be about talking and working on understanding their problems, learning skills to manage their difficulties, and finding ways to interact with other young people to help see they are not alone, and may still enjoy life. There are treatment managers on staff to help negotiate all the aspects of mental health treatment, and who can help arrange for leave from college or work. There is also our psychiatrist who will help educate about mental health and treatment, and will manage medications.
Referral Process
In order to begin the referral process, contact the Assessment Center at 860-545-7200 (Toll-free 1-800-673-2411). They will then set up an evaluation appointment to see if the young person is right for the program, and to see if they want to come to the program. |
