Gold Seal of Approval
Hartford Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of
Approval™ for its Joint Center by demonstrating compliance with
The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and
safety in disease-specific care. The certification award recognizes Hartford Hospital’s dedication to
continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art
standards.
The Hartford Hospital Joint Center underwent a rigorous on-site
survey in March. A team of expert surveyors evaluated our Joint Center
for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients
and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and
medication management.
Education
Education is a key feature of The Total Joint Center. Preventing injuries and teaching individuals undergoing total joint replacement surgery what to expect during and after hospitalization can have an important impact on recovery as well as requirements for future treatment. To educate patients and their families, the Orthopaedic Center offers weekly pre-operative education programs for hip and knee replacement.
Prior to your surgery, all pre-admission testing, including blood work, electrocardiograms and anesthesia assessment, will be done in a streamlined admission process. All Orthopaedic surgeries are performed in Operation Room suites dedicated to Orthopaedics. Bloodless surgery is an option for patients who desire surgery without blood transfusions.
