The Hartford Hospital Family Wellness Center at Avon is different than those in
our other locations in that it contains a full-fledged fitness center.
In partnership with the Healthtrax™ company, we designed the wellness
center to be both a fitness and a healthcare facility.
The first floor is largely occupied by
Healthtrax. It contains a swimming pool, exercise pool, weight room,
three exercise rooms and a full-sized court for basketball and
volleyball. The area is a dazzling display of state-of-the-art exercise
equipment.
But the Healthtrax area is more than just fun.
The Hartford Hospital Rehabilitation Network and Hartford Hospital's Departments
of Cardiology and Preventive Cardiology use Healthtrax facilities and
equipment for patients needing physical therapy and cardiac
rehabilitation.
The wellness center also contains a cardiology
center that includes a nuclear CT scanner and other high-tech equipment,
urgent care services, primary care services, radiology, diagnostic
testing and a variety of specialties. There's also an elaborate
Education Center where community education classes are held with a Computer Room and a library, and nearby is a
children's activity room, which provides childcare service for the
medical practices in the building.

 Esophageal cancer is the seventh deadliest cancer in the United States; however, relatively little is known about it by the general public. This talk will provide an overview of the signs and symptoms of the disease, as well as the common risk factors. We will also go over the tools needed for diagnosis, and discuss the many treatment options available at Hartford Hospital. After all, increasing awareness is the first step in fighting this deadly disease.
In this Seminar, you will learn how:
- Esophageal cancer is increasing in the US
- Some patients with severe heartburn may have an increased risk
- Early diagnosis leads to the best chance for cure
