Since 1958, Hartford Hospital’s
Pastoral Services Department
has offered Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
CPE is theological and professional education for ministry that prepares seminarians and members of the clergy to provide spiritual care to patients, their families and their healthcare providers.
What is CPE?
Clinical Pastoral Education is an experience-based learning program which combines daily work in hospital ministry to patients, staff, and families with small group, intensive reflection and feedback, plus individual supervision.

We offer a full-time, year-long residency program, a part-time, October-to-April extended program and a summer internship.
