The following classes, events, programs and support groups are available through the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center. Classes are held at our Hartford and Avon locations, as well as other Hartford Hospital locations. Some classes are free; others charge a fee, and some allow online registration.

Advances in Molecular Oncology Symposium
    This symposium will highlight the innovative research now being conducted by scientists and clinicians at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute, including new and promising molecular approaches in the treatment of cancer.
Arm Knitting
    Without the use of knitting needles, we will learn to use our arms to create loosely woven scarves with fun paterns and bright colors. We will learn to use our body as a tool in this creative process.
Cancer Wellness Support Series
    Come learn strategies to clear your mind and improve your mood in Introduction to Stress Management, Guided Imagery, and Gentle Yoga. A free series of classes open to all Hartford Hospital Cancer Program Patients and their care-givers
Celebrate Life!
    25th Annual Celebration of Life for patients, friends and families. A tribute to everyone fighting the good fight against cancer.
Change Your Eating, Change Your Life-After Cancer
    It is often difficult to make the transition from a diet lacking in whole foods to a healthy, cancer fighting strategic health plan. This class offers support during the transition, and will help you develop skill power as we explore diet strategies and their influence on enhancing and strengthening the body's innate healing system.
Drawing From Life: The Portrait
    This life drawing class has a primary focus; the human portrait. We will explore the basic approaches to drawing the head and face along with the proper proportional measurements that make up the faces we see.
Life After Prostate Cancer
    Hartford Hospital invites you to attend a question/answer session regarding your quality of life after prostate cancer.
Making Color Sing Course
    A basic course exploring the relationships and energy of color to discover its ability to vibrate, speak to us and energetically heal us.
Mixed Media Jewelry Making
    Through a creative process of self-reflection and exploration of art making, participants will create wearable mixed media jewelry that reflects their personal inspirations. Skills covered include: Bead making, basic wirework, surface design on metal and connections.

    New state-of-the-art mammography equipment can now be transported to community organizations to provide screenings
Prostate Cancer Support Group
    Provides education and support for prostate cancer patients and families to understand and deal with this disease.
Smoking Cessation for Cancer Patients and Their Family Members
    Cancer Program sponsored by the Helen & Harry Gray Center.
Stress Management for Cardiac Patients - A 6-Week Group
    Recommended for cardiac patients interested in improving their skills to manage stress and is facilitated by a counselor from Hartford Hospital’s Behavioral Cardiology Program.
