Patient Resource Center
|
We believe that having access to information is a vital part of the decision-making process in health and well-being. We hope that you use the Patient Resource Center to keep aware of the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment, seek support from an author's inspirational words, investigate the alternatives or find a phone number for a national organization.
Location:
The Patient Resource Center is located in The Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, just around the corner from the main Reception Desk.

| Books |
Books, which are arranged by subject, can be signed out by all registered patrons for a one-week loan period. Topics include: home care, treatments and therapies, anatomy, nutrition, medical records, alternative medicine, and support issues, to name a few. |
| Computerized Information |
Request searches of various databases, which include articles from various magazines, journals and pamphlets. Searches are completed within a few days and can be picked up or mailed. Photocopies of materials from the Patient Resource Center can also be requested. |
| Pamphlets |
Basic information from the American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute and other organizations. |
| Vertical File |
The center maintains this up-to-date file that includes newspaper clippings, pamphlets, articles and literature searches on a variety of topics. This file is kept in alphabetical order by subject. You may wish to read through the information in the file and request copies |
The Patient Resource Center is open to our entire community, including patients, their families and caregivers, as well as professional staff seeking information on cancer and all its related issues.
Patrons of the Patient Resource Center will be asked to fill out a registration form and will receive a card in order to borrow materials.
Volunteers, specifically trained to staff the Patient Resource Center, can assist you in finding information. For information about volunteer opportunities in the Patient Resource Center, please call (860) 545-2198. |
