The Henry Low Heart Center offers several comprehensive nutritional counseling services and support to people suffering from cardiovascular conditions or to those inquiring about general nutritional information.  Learning how to make the right food choices based on an individual’s specific needs or medical conditions is essential in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

 

Medical Nutrition Therapy
Medical Nutrition Therapy is the science of proper diet, lifestyle strategies and nutrient intervention to correct nutritional insufficiencies, promote optimal health and prevent, manage, or correct medical problems. For this program, the registered dietician develops practical treatment plans with long-term benefits for patients specifically with cardiac risk factors such as heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. For questions about coverage, please check with your insurance company. A physician referral is required.

 

Nutrition Well Visit
Nutrition Well visits provide general nutrition education for patients who do not have cardiac risk factors. This program focuses on lifestyle changes to promote nutritional health, including a patient’s needs for calories, fat and carbohydrates. Individual and group Nutrition Well counseling sessions are offered. This program is not covered by insurance. A physician referral is not required.
