Palliative Care

Palliative CareWhat is Palliative Care?
The Palliative Care Program at Jefferson House offers support and comfort to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. In this environment, an individual may choose, with dignity, only those aspects of care he or she wishes. Palliative care utilizes comfort measures, including the alleviation and control of physical and spiritual pain. All physical and psychosocial needs are met with consideration for the individual's wishes.

The loneliness and fears of facing a terminal illness can be diminished in the comforting and supportive environment through the Palliative Care Program at Jefferson House.
The Health Care Team
The Palliative Care Team, composed of staff from nursing, dietary, rehabilitation, recreation, social work and our volunteers, provides comprehensive, supportive care to meet both the physical and emotional needs of the patient and family.

Our Flexible Policies and Services
All palliative care patients are offered a private room. They are encouraged to bring in their own furnishings to make the room as homelike as possible. Family, friends, children and pets are welcome to visit at any time and are encouraged to take an active role in patient care.
