  • Middlesex to Remain Independent
    The Middlesex Hospital Board of Directors, which had explored joining one of several regional health systems, voted on Feb. 5 to continue to stand alone as an independent entity for the foreseeable future. The Board Chair thanked the Hartford Healthcare team for participating in their process and looked forward to continuing a positive and collaborative relationship.
     
  • Outbreak of Gastroenteritis due to Norovirus
    The CT State Department of Public Health has reported a laboratory-confirmed outbreak of gastroenteritis due to Norovirus. Noroviruses are recognized as the leading cause of viral gastroenteritis estimated to effect 23 million people yearly in the US alone. While there are numerous cases reported in the region, no cases of Norovirus have yet been identified at Hartford Hospital. Nontheless, we are recommending some general infection control measures to prevent the spread of this highly contagious virus.
     
  • It Pays to Manage Risk: 6% Premium Credit
    Hartford Hospital and its captive insurance company CHS Insurance Ltd. have recently partnered with Medical Risk Management, LLC to offer a comprehensive Risk Management Educational Program. Active medical staff members of Hartford Hospital that are insured by the captive are eligible for a 6% premium credit each year that they successfully complete the program.
     
  • Hartford Hospital Given Top Area Hospital for Tenth Consecutive Year
    For the tenth consecutive year, Hartford Hospital was named the 2009-2010 Consumer Choice Award winner for providing the area’s highest level of quality care. The hospital was awarded following a nationwide survey of health care consumers, conducted by National Research Corporation.
     
  • Hartford Hospital Announces Employee of the Year
    Juan Gonzalez of Research Administration, Hartford Hospital’s employee of the year is a life saver in so many ways. 
     
  • Medical Staff Board Spring Event, May 5
    The evening begins at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 5 in the soon-to-be-renovated Heublein Hall at the ERC. This year we will give four awards: the Physician in Philanthropy Award, the Distinguished Service Award, the Young Practitioner Award and the John K. Springer Humanitarian Award.
