Nurse Educator, IV Therapy
 
Debbie started her 30-year career at HH as a staff nurse in 1976 after getting her BSN from the University of Vermont. She started on EENT (old C9W) and worked there for 18 months prior to taking a position to teach in the LPN program here.
 
She was an instructor for 6 years with students clinically on the old Bliss 5/5E. While teaching in the LPN program, she received her Masters in Education from the University of Hartford. She has been the IV Nurse Educator since 1983, having taught most of the nurses here in IV insertion and other IV related skills and at the same time teaching many nurses in the entire state of Connecticut the same skill, from ECF nurses, Dept of Correction nurses, VNA, home care, etc. She also chaired the Employee Annual Campaign for 2007.
 
At the present time, she is the Coordinator for Nursing Orientation, a New Employee Orientation Facilitator, a Service Excellence Facilitator since 1997,  serves on the hospital-wide Service Excellence Committee, Coordinates the Student Nurse Placement for all affiliating Schools of Nursing for Hartford Hospital, and is adjunct faculty for University of Connecticut School of Nursing.
 
Debbie’s three passions are: Hartford Hospital, teaching IV insertions and "Customer Service".
