The Surgical Weight Loss Center is a high quality comprehensive program, which began in August 2004 by Dr. Darren S. Tishler
. The first minimally invasive procedure for weight loss was performed at Hartford Hospital in January 2005. Dr. Pavlos K. Papasavas
joined the program in January, 2008, bringing with him significant surgical experience along with the same focus on safe and effective surgical treatment of weight loss that the program provides.
Our goal is to ensure the highest quality of care for each patient using a multidisciplinary team approach. The comprehensive program works with multiple resources and services across the hospital and healthcare system to provide individualized, patient-centered care. Family members and support persons are encouraged to participate at all phases of the program.
To provide the best care, our board certified surgeons are complemented by a program coordinator who supports patients through the continuum of care, nursing, psychology, nutrition, quality and research staff to provide specialized care to the bariatric population. An active Patient and Family Advisory Board provides ongoing feedback through the voice of the patient.
The Surgical Weight Loss Center has supported nearly 3,000 patients in a lifelong partnership to improve their overall health and well-being.
