Total Joint Center
|
The Total Joint Center, located on the fourth floor of Hartford Hospital's Conklin Building, offers a comprehensive program of patient education and post-operative physical therapy.
Education is a key feature of the Total Joint Center. Preventing injuries and teaching individuals undergoing total joint replacement surgery what to expect during and after hospitalization can have an important impact on recovery as well as requirements for future treatment. To educate patients and their families, the Orthopaedic Center offers weekly pre-operative education programs for hip and knee replacement.
Prior to your surgery, all pre-admission testing, including blood work, electrocardiograms and anesthesia assessment, will be done in a streamlined admission process. All Orthopaedic surgeries are performed in Operation Room suites dedicated to Orthopaedics. Bloodless surgery is an option for patients who desire surgery without blood transfusions.
Post-operative patients receive specialized care by nurses and patient care assistants who are highly skilled Orthopaedic specialists. Pressing the call button at the bedside sends the call directly to a nurse on the unit via a telephone in his or her pocket.
There is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility on the unit staffed by dedicated therapists who will formulate a rehabilitation plan to suit your individual needs.
Family is permitted to visit at any time day or night during your stay. Hartford Hospital offers affordable accommodations right on its campus for out-of-town family members who would like to stay close by during your recovery. There is valet parking available.
