The first annual Hartford Hospital patient appreciation and mobility celebration event was held on September 15, 2012 in the Club Room at Rentschler Field. The goal of this event was for the Hospital to honor its Joint and Spine Center patients from the past four years that have undergone joint replacement and/or spine surgery and to celebrate their increased mobility.

Those attending included Joint and Spine Center patients and their guest, physicians and surgeons, Directors of the Joint Center, Directors of the Spine Center, Joint and Spine Center clinical support teams, Representatives from Hartford Hospital Rehabilitation Network and the Visiting Nurses Association, plus dozens of volunteers from Hartford Hospital that wanted to be a part of this exciting event.

Another huge reason to celebrate was the Joint Commission Gold Seal Certification that was awarded to both the Joint Center and Spine Center, making Hartford Hospital the only hospital in the North East with a Joint Commission Gold Seal for hips, knees, shoulders AND spine.

At the event President and CEO of Hartford Hospital, Jeffrey Flaks welcomed guests with a speech and patient testimonial video. There was a lunch buffet with a variety of foods. The band Old Hat performed live for the duration of the event, playing a variety of hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Raffle prizes were drawn and two lucky winners walked away with gift certificates for $100 worth of spa services. Folks danced and mingled the afternoon away. Fun was had by all!
