Rolando Hernandez Lizcano, M.Div Rolando Hernandez Lizcano, M.Div

Chaplain Rolando is both passionate and compassionate about walking with people on their spiritual journeys. He holds a bachelor degree in philosophy- Major Seminary, San Jose in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico and a Master Degree in Divinity from Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, IL. One of Rolando’s best experiences was as a youth minister in Chicago, IL, which allowed him to see and to experience the young face of God in the enthusiasm and curiosity of youth. Rolando also loves exercising, biking and dancing- which helps him feel alive! As the youngest of 13, he is deeply impacted by his family, work, and friends. Chaplain Rolando serves as the Transplant and Surgery Chaplain and is bilingual in Spanish and English.


Erica Nierendorf, M.Div., O.D.Erica Nierendorf, M.Div., O.D.

Chaplain Erica Nierendorf, a Wethersfield native, came to the ministry after many years of private practice in optometry. When she answered God’s call to ministry, she attended Hartford Seminary and Andover Newton Theological School and graduated in 2013. While in seminary, Erica N. also served as the Acting Associate Minister at the First Church of Christ in Simsbury, in the denomination of the United Church of Christ. She received her chaplaincy training through her internship and residency at Hartford Hospital. Erica loves spending time with her grown children, family and friends as well as long walks, swims, traveling and the Red Sox. She is honored to serve as the Cardiology Chaplain.

Jeanne Pedane, M.Div.Jeanne Pedane, M.Div.

Chaplain Eugenia (Jeanne) Pedane resides in Morris, CT, and is the Interim Pastor at Morris Congregational Church. Jeanne received her degree in Biblical Studies and Multi-faith Chaplaincy at Hartford Seminary and completed her chaplain residency at St. Francis Hospital in 2015. Prior to her seminary education, she was a Music & Special Needs Teacher in Northwestern CT. Jeanne spends her free time around her three children and one grandchild, and enjoys travel, hiking and building/refurbishing stone walls. Jeanne feels privileged to serve as the Cardio-Thoracic and Medicine Chaplain.

Pamela Peterson, M.Div., FDCPamela Peterson, M.Div., FDC

Rev. Pamela J. Peterson, a native of Mayville, NY (where they get more snow than Buffalo!), received a BS in Non-Profit Business Administration from Empire State College SUNY and a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. She is ordained in the United Church of Christ. She completed her denominational requirements at Lancaster Seminary and her Clinical Pastoral Education Residency here at Hartford Hospital. Her areas of interest include eco-spirituality, healing through nature, and humor as medicine. She is glad to serve as the Emergency Medicine/Trauma and Women’s Health Chaplain.

Erica Richmond, M.Div., MAErica Richmond, M.Div., MA

Chaplain Erica Richmond is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. She received her chaplaincy training at the University of Vermont Medical Center and at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. While at Seattle’s level-one trauma center, Erica worked with the trauma, psychiatric, and palliative care teams. Erica is a Unitarian Universalist and graduated from Union Theological Seminary, earning her Master of Divinity in 2013. She also holds a Master of Art in Community Development from Clark University. In her free time she loves to read, see friends, and reconnect with the beauty of New England. Erica is the Palliative Care chaplain, serving those patients and the critical care patients of Bliss 11’s intensive care unit and Oncology.

Jessica Van Denend, M.Div., Ph.D., BCCJessica Van Denend, M.Div., Ph.D., BCC

Chaplain Jessica Van Denend received a Master of Divinity and a Ph.D. in Religion and Psychology from Union Theological Seminary in New York. An ordained pastor and board certified chaplain; Jessica has done chaplaincy work in a variety of settings, including prison, psychiatric, hospice, and hospital. She currently teaches pastoral care courses at Lexington Theological Seminary and has presented talks and papers in both academic and church settings. Jessica lives in Hamden with her spouse, two sons, and chocolate lab. Jessica is serving as the chaplain for the Institute of Living and for the hospital’s Medicine patients.

Annette Wright, M.Div., D.Min.Annette Wright, M.Div., D.Min.

Chaplain Annette Wright resides in Windsor, CT with her husband, John. She received her Master of Divinity, Master of Art in Christian Education and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, MA, where she also serves as an Adjunct Professor. Annette is ordained in the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) church. She is the “Anna M. Fulling Community Chaplain,” a position that focuses both on hospital and the greater community - providing spiritual care, outreach, and education to patients, their faith leaders, and family members. Annette enjoys reading, traveling, walking and spending time with her four grandsons.

Kaiser Aslam Kaiser Aslam

Kaiser Aslam has a Masters in Islamic Studies from the Hartford Seminary and is completing his certificate of Islamic Chaplaincy from there. Kaiser has studied traditional Islamic sciences abroad as well as in the United States over the last decade and hopes to pursue a PhD in the subject in the future. In addition to his role as Muslim Chaplain at Hartford Hospital, Kaiser serves as the University Muslim Chaplain at Wesleyan University and as the Youth Director at Farmington Valley American Muslim Center.

Rabbi Phillip LazowskiRabbi Phillip Lazowski

Rabbi Lazowski has been a Rabbi in the Hartford area for over 60 years. He has served in the Institute of Living and Hartford Hospital as chaplain for over 40 years, and was honored to have a chapel there named for him and his good friend, Father John Kiely. He also serves as chaplain in the State Senate and Hartford Police. He holds doctorate degrees from Yeshiva University, Brooklyn College, and the Jewish Theological Seminary and has authored 12 books. Rabbi Lazowski lives in West Hartford with his wife Ruth, where he is currently Rabbi Emeritus of both Emanuel Synagogue, as well as Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield.
