About the Pre-Admission Testing Center
|
The Pre-Admission Testing Center is a unique unit that is dedicated to meeting the concerns of our pre-operative patients and their families. A visit to the PATC gives each patient having surgery at Hartford Hospital, the opportunity to incorporate all registration, testing, health history reviews and teaching into one visit. Appointments are made at the patients convenience. They can be scheduled to coordinate with other office visits, blood donation or testing needed.
Services provided by the Pre-Admission Testing Center include:
- Blood Drawing (phlebotomy)
- EKG studies
- Health history screening
- Peri-Operative teaching by a registered nurse
- Anesthesia screening
- Discharge planning
- Coordination of specific ancillary services on an individual basis
If possible, studies should be done at least several days before admission so we can analyze the results. Patients may also choose to have an anesthesia screening and health screening done at this time.
Patients who only need an outpatient electrocardiogram should register in Admitting. Just ask for directions at the information desk in the main lobby.
Phone interviews are used for those not coming to the PATC. Calls are made by PATC staff to patients within a few days of schedule surgery. Calls include health screening and peri-operative teaching.
We will validate Parking for the day of your visit to the PATC. You must however, park in the Seymour Street or Retreat Avenue parking garages.
