Healthgrades selects Hartford Hospital as one of 100 Best Hospitals in America

healthgradesHartford Hospital was once again named as one of America’s Best 100 hospitals by Healthgrades. The rating is based on hospital complication and mortality rates for common procedures. Healthgrades evaluated about 4,500 organizations and selected nearly 1,500 hospitals as being eligible for the award. The 100 selected hospitals represent the top 2 percent of hospitals in the nation, according to Healthgrades. Healthgrades noted that 165,636 lives would have been saved if all U.S. hospitals performed at the level of the 100 Best Hospitals from 2009 to 2011. Founded in 1998, Healthgrades is the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Today, more than 225 million visitors use the Healthgrades websites to find, evaluate, compare, select, connect and communicate with physicians and hospitals that best meet their treatment needs.

LIFE STAR is awarded the AAMS 2011 PROGRAM OF THE YEAR

LIFE STAR has been selected as the recipient of Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) Program of the Year for 2011. The Program of the Year recognizes an emergency medical program (national or international) that has demonstrated a superior level of patient care, management prowess, quality leadership through visionary and innovative approaches, customer service, safety consciousness, marketing ingenuity, community service and/or commitment to the medical transport community as a whole. This is the highest recognition an air medical transport program can receive.

 

Hartford Hospital is a recipient of the HealthGrades 2011 Emergency Medicine Excellence Award

The HealthGrades Emergency Medicine in American Hospitals study focused on 12 of the most common and life-threatening medical emergencies among that patient population, including heart attack, stroke, pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. The HealthGrades study included only those cases admitted to the hospital from the emergency room for further medical treatment, representing the full continuum of a patient’s care. American Stroke Association Gold Plus Award

Stroke Center Recognized by American Stroke Association

Hartford Hospital received the American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award. The award recognizes Hartford Hospital for providing high-quality, safe care for stroke patients. According to the ASA, stroke is the third leading cause of death in the U.S. and can cause serious, long-term disability if not treated quickly. Hartford Hospital was also recognized by the ASA for its timely care of patients. Hartford Hospital’s Stroke Center celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2011. It is comprised of a team of specialists in minimally-invasive, catheter-based techniques; neurosurgery and neurology. (more)

The Spine Center and the Joint Center received "Blue Distinction Center" designation from Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. For four years running (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) Hartford Advocate readers have chosen Hartford Hospital as their best hospital. "Miracles happen here every day," says Hartford Hospital's Jeff Flaks, chief operating officer. Over the past year, Flaks says, the hospital staff has taken "dramatic measures" to ensure that patients are cared for attentively. Infection rates are low at Hartford Hospital, a challenge for most medical centers dealing with so many patients. Hartford Hospital Named 2012 Most Wired (6th Year in a Row)

For the sixth consecutive year, Hartford Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 200 Most Wired hospitals according to Hospitals & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association. Most Wired hospitals show better outcomes in patient satisfaction, risk-adjusted mortality rates and other key quality measures. The Most Wired survey focuses on how the nation’s hospitals use technology for quality, customer service, public health and safety, business processes and workforce issues. Chest Pain Center Receives Accreditation

The Society of Chest Pain Centers has awarded Hartford Hospital's Chest Pain Center with a three-year "Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI" accreditation. To qualify for this accreditation, a chest pain center must have: 24/7 availability with physician coverage, 24/7 onsite lab capability, patients accepted via EMS, a formal transfer relationship with a PCI-capable facility accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, the capability to observe low-risk cardiac patients. Hartford Hospital Website Wins National Award

Hartford Hospital’s website, www.harthosp.org, was chosen as a Gold Award Winner in the 2012 eHealthcare Leadership Awards in the category of Best Site Design among hospitals with 400 or more beds. The 13th annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards Program drew some 1,100 entries from small and large hospitals, health systems, medical practices, and healthcare associations. Websites were judged based on a standard of Internet excellence and how they compared with others in the organization's classification.

Imaging Center Wins Three-Year ACR Accreditation

The Imaging Center at Hartford Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in CT Scanning as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
