Participants Needed for Research Study on Depression
Staff at the Burlingame Center for Psychiatric Research at the IOL is conducting a new trial for the treatment of depression using a new, non-invasive medical device. Known as low emission NeoSync EEG synchronized transcranial magnetic stimulation (sTMS), the device is being tested in patients between 22 and 65 years old with a diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder and failure to respond to exactly one medication. Under the direction of Dr. John Goethe, director of clinical research, and Sherri Post, trial coordinator, the trial consists of five 30-minute treatments per week for six weeks. There is no recovery period, so the patient is free to leave at the conclusion of each treatment and able to drive. For further details about the trial, please visit www.neosync.com. To speak with the trial coordinator, please call 860-545-7476, or email at spost@harthosp.org.
