Grant Writing

The Hartford Hospital Research Program is committed to supporting and promoting research at Hartford Hospital. In keeping with this commitment, Grant writing is now available as a resource to Hartford Hospital investigators to support their pursuit of external funding for research projects.

Tara McLaughlin has transitioned into this new Senior Scientist/ Grant Writer position from her previous position in the Clinical Research Center. Some of the ways in which she can help investigators develop their grant proposals include background development, literature review, scientific writing and exploration of funding opportunities. She also works closely with other areas of Research Administration as needed to develop budgets, study design and statistical analysis sections of external research grant applications.

Tara has a PhD in Biobehavioral Sciences/Behavioral Genetics with post-doctoral training in Psychiatric Epidemiology. She has worked in research at Hartford Hospital since 2001 when she was hired as a Health Outcomes Scientist to design and implement community health assessments and public health evaluations. She has experience developing grants aimed at foundation, state and federal sources.
