The research agreement is a legal document between an external entity and Hartford Hospital. This document is required for all studies involving external parties, external funds, or equipment being provided by an external entity. This document stipulates the legal stance on the item below:

  • Intellectual property
  • Payment schedules
  • Institutional fees
  • Publication rights
  • Indemnification
  • Governing law
  • Patient confidentiality
  • Data use

The research agreement may also be referred to as a clinical trial agreement, research contract, or as a subcontract.

The VP for Research at Hartford Hospital is the individual authorized to sign on behalf of Hartford Hospital for research agreements. The Research Agreement must be fully executed (signed by the Entity involved and Hartford Hospital) before final approval will be given to a project, but it does not need to be received prior to Research Committee Review.
